Leaders get what they expect, and they get what they tolerate.
What are you tolerating? What are the low expectations that you are “putting up with” that shouldn’t be happening? 
 
Maybe you’re telling yourself a story that allows you to tolerate unacceptable behaviors. “Well, I don’t have the skillset on my team to backfill for this person?” Or, “I need to choose my battles.” Or “It’s no big deal.” Or, “I’ll burn the relationship if I give her feedback.” How about this one - “I can’t hold her accountable for (fill in the blank) because she’s a good producer.”

It's snowing here in Boulder, Colorado....big time. Receiving a foot of snow on October 28th came a bit unexpected. At least for me.
But the fresh snow gets me excited about my favorite winter pursuits, like teleskiing and ice climbing. Unfortunately, the snow also reminds me that it is budget season (not quite as fun as skiing), and it's time to prepare for the new year.

    The Department of Defense built the first Global Positioning System            (GPS) in the 1970’s. Consisting of 24 satellites that orbit the            earth at about 11,000 miles, the system was originally designed to pinpoint            the position of soldiers, weapons, and enemy targets. The Department            of Defense never imagined that the advent of the GPS would spawn the            booming sport of Geocaching (pronounced “gee o cashing”).
